Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

As the Regional General Manager of this company, it gives me great pleasure to talk to you about our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. We understand that our success as a business is not only measured by financial gains, but also by our impact on society and the environment.

We are committed to being a responsible and sustainable corporate citizen, and we take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. Our CSR initiatives are an integral part of our business strategy, and we strive to create a positive impact in the communities where we operate.

Our CSR efforts cover a wide range of areas, including but not limited to, education, health, environment, and social welfare. We work closely with our employees, partners, and local communities to identify the most pressing issues and develop solutions that have a meaningful and long-lasting impact.

Our commitment to CSR is not just a checkbox exercise; it is deeply ingrained in our company culture and values. We believe that by being a socially responsible company, we can create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to working with you to make a positive difference in the world.

Organizational Governance

Leadership commitment is necessary to address corporate governance. It has to be supported right from the Board downwards to drive CSR plans forward and be part of the strategic goals. Corporate governance is critical to FLE for its accountability and managing risk. The Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance sets out the requirements and guidelines while executing business to avoid bad practices such as dishonesty, breach of trust, corrupt practices etc.

The company developed a code of conduct on ethical behaviour as guidance on what the company can recognize as legitimate. This code of conduct communicated to all employees so they know the company has established policies and standards.

It is important to keep good records and have internal controls that can check non-compliance or irregularities. The process should be able to pick up any weaknesses and good records are essential for transparency.

Embedding an anti-corruption culture requires training and communication, so employees understand how potential risks relate to their job and are empowered on what to do when confronted by unethical practices. This should be an ongoing process.

FLE is committed to meeting our responsibility to respect human rights as defined by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and we recognise our responsibility to respect all internationally recognised human rights across our own activities and business relationships.

The purpose of this policy is two-fold: to communicate – internally and externally - FLE commitment to respect human rights, in line with the expectation of UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and to provide guidance to our employees on appropriate behaviour when it comes to labour and human rights issues.

FLE strives to continuously improve our ability to identify potential or actual human rights impacts that our business may be connected to and, once identified, to take appropriate action to prevent or mitigate those impacts.

FLE is committed to open and unbiased dialogue with our stakeholders on human rights issues, and we periodically align our approach with external and internal stakeholders.

We encourage customers, suppliers and other business partners and other people affected by our activities, to speak up if you observe or suspect potential human rights breaches.

The Environment

Environmental sustainability is extremely important for the FLE business. Most of our raw materials are sourced directly from nature, and the continued success of our business is directly linked to the health of the environment. We are therefore continuously looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment and the communities in which we operate.

FLE understands the important role that we play in understanding, protecting and enhancing the services that ecosystems provide and the underlying biodiversity. We are therefore constantly striving to optimise our use of natural resources, to view our products and activities from a life cycle perspective, and to develop and use environmentally friendly products, materials and technologies in a way that contributes to long-term sustainable development.

FLE value winning but also understand the importance of complying with competition laws. This means that we conduct ourselves in a fair and ethical manner in all of our business dealings, whether it be with customers, suppliers, or competitors. We are aware of the potential risks and legal implications of engaging in anti-competitive behaviour and take steps to ensure that we remain compliant at all times.

In situations where we come into direct contact with competitors or indirectly exchange information with them, we exercise caution and abide by competition rules. We also recognize the importance of treating our customers and suppliers fairly and refrain from imposing minimum resale prices on them.

To ensure that we remain in line with our ethical standards, we regularly conduct risk assessments and establish management systems to mitigate any potential risks. If any unethical behaviour is detected, we take prompt corrective measures to ensure that our business operations remain sound and fair.

Fair Operating Practices

Consumer Issues

FLE IT capability is a strong business driver in the relationships with our consumers, customers, business partners, and on-site as well as remote workers. We take very seriously the expectations of these stakeholders that any data shared and used – whether personal data or business data – is protected through robust security features, effective processes for their implementation, and reliable IT applications and providers.

FLE commits to safeguarding the digital well-being of our many stakeholders and all their data in our care, including in our information systems, from the exponentially growing risks of illegal and damaging conduct by individuals or groups acting either carelessly or intentionally for financial gain or other pernicious reasons.

FLE recognises the importance of having legally effective and meaningful privacy and data protection standards applicable to all our business activities. This is necessary not only to comply with the many evolving regulatory requirements across our global markets but also to promote the trust of those countries’ citizens, leaders, and business communities.

We gain these stakeholders’ trust by respecting the political choices and community concerns that have been expressed through their local privacy laws. To assist with our local compliance efforts, all personal data, however and wherever used in our business operations, must be handled strictly.

FLE are committed to positively engaging in activities that contribute to the development of both international and local communities. We recognize the importance of using our management resources to support communities and contribute to society. We strive to achieve this through a variety of means, including contributions and donations of monetary and other resources, utilizing our products, services, and technologies to contribute to society, and collaborating with local communities at the time of a disaster.

We understand that it is essential to work together with stakeholders to achieve our goals, and we are committed to building strong relationships with local communities. We recognize the value of collaborating with social contribution organizations and their activities, and we aim to support these efforts through monetary donations and other means.

Our goal is to make a positive impact on the communities we serve, both locally and internationally, and to create a sustainable future for all. We believe that by contributing to society in meaningful ways, we can build a better world for ourselves and future generations.
